In this pilot episode you are introduced to all of the characters and you get deeper into the lives of the ‘main’ characters.
The first shot is the cheer leading squad showing off a routine and a slow motion shot of a blond haired girl smiling dramatically. Instantly you want to watch on to find out who this person is, and sure enough not like later you find out.
Through out the episode you meet more of the characters and get to know some things about them. Mr Scheuster is the Spanish teacher at Mckinley High School and finds that the schools Glee club needs a new leader and he goes straight in for the position. However the Principal – Principal Figgins makes it hard for this transaction to happen BUT Mr. Schu still gets his own way and manages to take over the Glee Club.
He then holds open auditions and let’s everyone that auditioned into the Glee Club. Even though all of the members are talented they need more people to join the club. When Mr.Schu goes and sees the footballers and tells them about the Glee Club they all laugh but you can see a glimmer of hope in one of the students eyes. Mr. Schu then hears him singing in the shower, this is Finn Hudson the start quarter back of Mckinley High. So Mr Schu does a very unethical thing and plants some ‘marijuana’ in Finns locker and pretends to have found it during monthly locker checks. He then tells Finn that he has to join the Glee Club so that this doesn’t go on his record.
However Finn gets mocked for being in the Glee Club and it’s not very happy days, but it’s only early days.
So at the end of the pilot episode there are six Glee Club members – Rachel Berry, Kurt Hummel, Mercedes Jones, Artie Abrams, Tina Cohen-Chang and Finn Hudson.
And there is one thing you know about each of them
Rachel Berry – She thinks she is the best, she thinks she sings the best and she feels as though she is better than everyone else.
Kurt Hummel – even though he hasn’t come out, it’s obvious he is gay.
Mercedes Jones – She isn’t a massive fan of Rachel and is a very proud black girl.
Artie Abrams – is obviously in a wheel chair.
Tina Cohen-Chang – she has a stutter…
Finn Hudson – Is the most popular boy in school and isn’t really keen on being in Glee Club.
